Q7 Evaluation. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Q6 Evaluation: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Camera: I now know the rule of thirds and how to  create the best lighting and where to place the model on the left or right of frame. I know how to get the model to display certain expressions to help the representations I am trying to represent of an Indian women with a mystery.

Tripod: I now know how to attach a tripod on to a camera and the purpose of it, to ensure the image is straight and not an angle and doesn't get a bur effect, as this was my problem when capturing an image for my preliminary task.

Adobe Elements 11: I know how to construct a magazine and how to edit images and texts. I have learnt how to get rid of a background on an image and how to enhance the quality. I learnt how to choose the right shapes and images and how to rotate them to present them how I wish, for example I wanted a pattern inspired by temple architecture on the corners of my DPS. Upon reflection I could have used adobe elements more to my advantage and created more of a gradient using the blur/rubber tool to create more of an effect. I enjoyed using the grid on adobe elements, as it was extremely useful on my contents to ensure everything was in line and similarly on the article on the DPS.

Editing an image: I editing my image on my front cover to help enhance her eyes and and bring out the depth of her tattoos and also enhanced her eyes and lips and made the image more warmed toned. I also used a matching colour tool on adobes elements to match the colour of her lipstick. I also on my DPS used a cut out from her fur coat to be a background box out of a pull quote. I also used the colour grabbing tool to match the colour of he tattoos to match the colour of the text in the pull quote.
Slidely: I created a slidely and used a bhangra song in the background, to help get more of a feel of the culture that the target audience for my magazine would have. I had previously never used slidely.

Prezzi: The first time I used prezzi, I was only first understanding it, however the second time I built my knowledge greatly, and I used it for my question 2 evaluation for representation of analysis. I even used the background image to help represent the bright colourful Indian culture.

Blogger: This is the first blog I have used and I enjoyed the experience and I now know how to add hyperlink, embed youtube videos, prezzis, slidley, and powtoon. I enjoyed how easy it was to upload through my phone using the app. For example during research and planning, as I liked how instantly I could simply capture an image of a magazine that has caught my eye and post it on to my blog.

Word Art: I also enjoyed using word art and getting the right pattern and colours to display the key words which represent my genre.

Flickr: I used flickr to help decide which image should be my front cover and which image I should use for my DPS. These comments strongly influenced me to use the image I did for my DPS and made me appreciate what an lovely image it is.

Memory Card readers: I learnt how to transfer the images from my camera on to the mac, using a memory card reader.

Q5 Evaluation. How did you attract/ address your audience?

Q4 Evaluation: Who would be the audience for your media product?

In the early stages I defined my TA as:

'My target audience for my Bhangra magazine are aimed at those from the Indian culture and those who also aren't from the Indian Culture but who are intrigued by it. I feel this magazine will clarify to those what the culture is about and their interests and lifestyle.
The age I am aiming my magazine at will have a huge range as any one from that culture will be intrigued by it, such as teenagers and adults. The magazine will also be aimed at male and female as Bhangra music is aimed at both.
The magazine will also give an insight to the people not from the Indian culture on the traditions that take place in that culture and the lifestyle and religions they have. Also the magazine will engage with British Indians who want to embrace their roots further in a modern way.'

I feel that I have maintained this audience:

1] Readers may wish to read it to find out information about the Indian culture [Blumler & Katz Uses & Gratification]
2] I think the age range has reduced to 16-30. It will appeal more to teens who struggle with their identity and feel the pull of two cultures. However, it will appeal to those in their twenties who are preparing for adult life and marriage.
3] I do think my magazine targets males and females as i have included features for both genders.

Additionally, now my pages are complete, i feel they also target those who:
1] Are interested in a career in music
2] A career in musicals
3] wish to download and listen to more Bhangra
4] wish to participate in the Bhangra scene
5] wish to read about up coming stars.
6] use social media
7] are already familiar with famous and established singers/ musicians like Garry Sandhu

Q3 Evaluation What kind of Media institution might distribute your media product and why?

During my research I believed that Bauer would be the best institution to distribute my magazine. i found the following information:

'Bauer has a younger image that would appeal to my TA.
They target niche and mass markets.  Their TA research is superb. The Millenials are my TA.
"They have the highest media consumption of any segment, at an average 66 hours a week, and exhibit the widest range of media behaviours. They are defined as creative and influential, like their voice to be heard – especially online where they are highly active - and follow trends closely."

I really want my magazine to have access to all technology eg apps, ticket master, QR codes etc'

Upon reflection, I chose not to include QR codes or references to ticket master. I didn't feel these worked well with the style of music and the look of my house style. However, it is possible that these institutional features could be added.

I do still believe that the Millenials and the way Bauer target audiences would really help to promote my magazine. It meets a gap in the market and although it is seen as niche, it could be widened.

It does appeal to me that they target national markets - the north as well as the south.
In our area, we are close to Hull , the base of Viking radio. This would provide further marketing opportunities. Additionally, many families originally settled in the North during the 50's, 60's and 70's and this has resulted in 2nd and 3rd generations now having roots in these areas. It is true to say that today, many families have now migrated south and so it is vital that there is national targeting. I do believe Bauer would do this.

Bauer also have many social media links and I included twitter, facebook, snapchat and instagram.

Cross media convergence: I included Bollywood and songs for weddings that could be viewed in youtube. This cohesion between media platforms appeals to the new digital audience and global audience that my TA expects. The global reach of my magazine is excellent as it could be downloaded and subscribed to through Bauer and enjoyed in the UK and Asia. Bauer also has links to TV and therefore my magazine could be advertised between relevant programming. I still believe i made the right choice as they are so influential and have so many brands.

When I looked at the market I realised that previous magazines of this genre targeted males. This is something that i wanted to challenge and i think Bauer would appreciate that my pages target both males and females. Bauer do produce niche market products eg Your Horse and I actually believe my pages would have a bigger market.

I believe my product would suit their pages and Bangra Beats would slot between AM and Car.

The audience finder tool on their website would also raise my pages profile and appear alongside existing products like Heat and Kiss FM.

I am really excited by the idea of my magazine being part of the Bauer Group and feel i definitely made the right choice.

Question 2: Evaluation. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
